Archt. Chameera Udawattha
Principal Architect & FounderArchitect Dr. Chameera D. Udawattha, PhD, AIA (SL), GREENSL AP is a Chartered Architect, researcher, academic, and sustainability advocate with extensive experience in architecture, construction technology, and building materials research. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Estate Management and Valuation at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. Dr. Udawattha holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a PhD in Civil Engineering, with research specializing in sustainable construction materials, low-carbon building technologies, and innovative solutions for the built environment. His work has focused on developing environmentally responsible construction materials and technologies suitable for developing countries, contributing significantly to sustainable construction practices in Sri Lanka. Throughout his academic and professional career, Dr. Udawattha has received numerous prestigious national recognitions, including multiple **Presidential Awards for Scientific Publications**, awarded by the Government of Sri Lanka for his high-impact research in construction technology, sustainable building materials, and engineering innovation. His research on alternative cementitious materials, mud concrete technologies, industrial by-product utilization, and sustainable construction systems has gained both national and international recognition. He is also the recipient of the **Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) Research and Publication Award** and several awards for excellence in scientific research and innovation. As an active member of the **Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA)**, Dr. Udawattha has contributed extensively to the advancement of the architectural profession in Sri Lanka. He has served as a **Council Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects** and as **Secretary of the Board of Architectural Publications (BAP)**, playing a key role in promoting architectural scholarship, professional development, and research dissemination. Through these roles, he has supported the publication of architectural research, encouraged evidence-based professional practice, and contributed to the development of architectural knowledge within the country. His professional and research interests span sustainable architecture, green buildings, construction technology, innovative building materials, building automation, climate-responsive design, and the modernization of the construction industry. He has authored numerous scholarly publications in leading international journals and has supervised research in architecture, construction management, sustainability, and the built environment. Beyond academia, Dr. Udawattha actively engages with industry, government agencies, and professional bodies to bridge the gap between research and practice. Through his leadership, research contributions, and professional service, he continues to shape the future of architecture and sustainable construction in Sri Lanka while fostering innovation within the built environment sector.
